The author of the sample passage has replaced individual words (such as “dance, vibrate and skim”) with different words (such as “bounce, wiggle and skip”), but simple word substitution does not permit a writer to steal another person’s ideas. Many of the statements in the student writing sample come directly from the original source. The author of the sample has not added any original interpretation or analysis.
