The ECP Tutoring Centre and its coordinator, Dr. Faye D’Silva, were just featured in an article for the Canadian Writing Centres Association (CWCA) magazine as part of their writing centre spotlight series. Dr. D’Silva has been with the Engineering Communication program since 2010 and has been coordinating our Tutoring Centre since 2014. During that time she has striven to put the Tutoring Centre on the national map, and for good reason.
The ECP Tutoring Centre is unique among other writing centres in that it is deeply integrated within the Faculty. Most of our tutors are also instructors in many of the courses that the Engineering Faculty offers. This means that our Tutoring Centre instructors bring not only general expertise in communication modes and strategies, but also expertise in engineering-specific modes and genres.
In addition, we also offer focused professional language development for students using the English language to study engineering.
